Mary Bosanquet

Click on picture to read a short piece about Long Rider Mary Bosanquet, an Englishwoman who rode across Canada in 1939, published in "La Patrie" on 23rd May 1939.  The cut-line reads, "Mary Bosanquet, a young 25-year-old Englishwoman, says good-bye to her friend, Mrs. J. McCarthy, to undertake the crossing of Canada by horseback.  It will represent for her a fantastic, adventure-filled journey."  Mary subsequently wrote one of the most delightful equestrian travel accounts, "Saddlebags for Suitcases"."
