After making a solo equestrian journey across Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province in 1983, CuChullaine O’Reilly organized the Karakoram Expedition in 1989

With two companions, CuChullaine journeyed from Peshawar, NWFP to Gilgit, Pakistan, and back, on his Kathiawari/Percheron gelding, Pasha. The story of that trip was recounted in CuChullaine’s book, Khyber Knights.
